Mold is the easiest thing in this industry to exaggerate, because you cannot see inside your own ducts. Some ways to keep the conversation honest:
- A price quoted on the phone before an inspection is not a quote, it is a hook. Ranges on the phone are fine; a firm number is not.
- Ask to see it. A photo or camera feed of the actual growth in your system, not a stock photo of somebody else’s ducts.
- Be careful with “the whole system has to be replaced” on the first visit. It is sometimes true, especially with duct board, and it should come with photos.
- Watch for a small advertised fee that grows. The same bait pattern that shows up in air duct cleaning scams shows up here, amplified, because fear does the selling.
- A second opinion is reasonable on anything above about $2,000. An honest company will not fight you on it.
Air duct mold removal cost in Palm Beach County
Palm Beach County prices land in the same $500 to $3,000 range as the rest of South Florida. Where you live in the county changes which end of it you are likely to be at.
- Condos east of I-95, in West Palm Beach, Lake Worth Beach, Boynton Beach and Delray Beach, usually have a closet air handler with short duct runs. Growth caught on the coil and drain pan of a system like that tends to sit at the low end.
- Single family homes from the seventies through the nineties, in Greenacres, Palm Springs, Lantana and the older parts of Boca Raton, usually have an attic air handler and long flex runs through a hot attic.
